Around the same time that Harunobu and Kansuke defeat the Ogasawara clan, Kagetora Nagao becomes the head of the Nagao family, succeeding his elder brother. Things finally calm down in Shinano. Kansuke goes on a trip to obtain guns, foreseeing that the new weapon is the key for future victories. Coming back to Kai, Kansuke tells Harunobu about his grand plan of seizing control of Echigo, Suruga, and then the whole country.
