A new generation of human-like robots -- "hubots" -- provide all manner of services to the human race. But some of these hubots, known as the "Children of David," free themselves from the control of their masters. Kidnapped by traffickers and separated from other rebel hubots, the hubot Mimi is sold on the black market. Another Child of David, Leo, leaves the protection of the group and goes in search of her.

A double murder is discovered in the old house where the rogue hubots charged their batteries and the police take up the hunt for the perpetrators. Inger has trouble accepting Anita, while at the same time money starts disappearing around the house. Roger's hatred of all hubots grows, especially the one his ex-wife lives with.

The rogue hubots take refuge in an old church, where the pastor offers them sanctuary in the vicarage, believing that hubots would never harm humans. Granddad Lennart has trouble accepting his new housekeeper and takes every chance he can get to get away from her and enjoy the freedom he once had with Odi.

Therese and Pilar feel humiliated when their hubot boyfriends aren't treated as humans. At the same time, Roger's anti-hubot group begins plotting violence. But why is Bea acting so strangely? And how does she know Niska?

Malte, Bea and Roger pledge their allegiance to the 'Real Humans Liberation Front' and begin setting their plans for a hubot-free world in action. The search for Mimi leads Leo to the hubot black market and into the hands of hubot hunter Silas. At the vicarage, Eva's fears about their guests in the attic escalate.

Leo is weak, but does everything he can to get to Mimi's house, where Matilda is beginning to uncover the truth about Anita. When Bea arrives at Roger's job with a black eye, she cajoles him into taking her in. Lennart is offered the chance to make a hubot copy of himself. But does he want to?

Tobias witnesses an assault and decides to take the law into his own hands. After some bad news, Roger loses his cool at work, but at the same time he is enjoying his new home life with Bea. Granddad Lennart feels alive again in his blossoming romance with the all-too-sunny Solveig.

Rick and Bo are insulted when the ladies switch them off for a girls' night out. They begin throwing their weight about and decide to get revenge. When Inger questions Leo, he lets her know that time is running out. Meanwhile, at Roger's house, Bea begins to develop feelings and soon has a revelation for Roger.

The truth about David Eischer's experiments leaks out to the police, and Inger Engman suddenly understands the link to Anita. Kevin gets tired of Rick's bullying and returns to a home and a stepfather he doesn’t recognise. And after a successful flight attempt, Leo finds his beloved Mimi.

In the final episode, everyone wants the code, which in the wrong hands could spell disaster for humankind. Leo is very weak, but continues to flee with Mimi in the underground passages of the metro. Bea and Carl are both after them, both trying to reach them first. At the same time, Tobias has a strange gift in his room.

A virus is spreading like a pandemic, making infected hubots uncontrollable and dangerous. Bea is reactivated after several months, and she resumes her desperate search for David's lost code.

Bea continues searching for the code that makes machines human. In her search for the scientist David Eischer’s clone, she seeks out David’s mother. Tobias struggles with his transhuman sexuality, as his heart still longs for Mimi. The Engman family receives a package containing their Granddad’s clone. Meanwhile, at Hub Battle Land, Silas works to get the business off the ground and Roger arrives for a job interview.

A segment is missing and Matilda suspects that Mimi knows more than she lets on. When Roger is sent out to pick up a hubot, he’s in for an unpleasant reunion. Florentine’s dream is about to come true - she’s finally going to marry her Douglas. But perhaps human life is not all it’s cracked up to be.

Douglas and Florentine plan their wedding, and Claes can’t help interfering. Back at the Engmans’, Lennart’s clone is increasingly obstinate, in particular towards Hans, who is starting to lose patience. Mimi is hired at the law firm, but not everyone likes having a hubot as a colleague. The conflict between Real Humans and the Transhumans grows increasingly antagonistic. Sooner or later everyone will have to choose sides.

Therese wants to move to the more liberal Holland, but first she wants to try to convince Kevin to come along, so she visits him at the Real Humans Youth Camp. Tobias, Betty and Matilda decide to program David’s code into Lennart, with no idea of the consequences. Douglas and Florentine are placed on a three-year waiting list for adoption, but Florentine has no desire to wait - she wants a child now.

Douglas can’t live with the fact that Florentine stole a baby, but she refuses to give it up. Rick is armed and isn’t about to back down from any human. Jonas starts up David’s clone and tries to get him to provide the code, but he is forced to turn to Bea for assistance. She, however, has other plans. Mimi installs a language program from an unsafe website to help Inger, but the program contains more than just the language. Gordon breaks into Florentine’s house to rescue her from Douglas.

The virus is having a debilitating effect on Mimi. Hans is forced to take her to Einar in hope of curing her. Florentine goes to the law firm to hear the reading of Douglas’s will and a giant secret is revealed and David tries to find a way to save Bea from Jonas while he works on the code. Jonas realises that the code is out there somewhere and sends Silas out to find it. Meanwhile, Rick continues his revolution, naming himself its leader.

Mimi’s condition has worsened and the Engman family discover something about her past. Petra goes to the police and Real Humans to destroy Florentine. Claes and Inger must fight fire with fire to save her. Meanwhile, Jonas continues with his plan to transfer his consciousness to his clone. To do so, he needs to ask Silas for a big favour. Jonas starts doubting David’s clone after a revelation from Bea.

Florentine’s future is being settled in court and Mimi, wracked with the virus, is called as a witness. Then, an unexpected person from her past appears in the courtroom. Kevin and a group of Real Humans Youths decide to go to Hub Battle Land to destroy hubots. Meanwhile, Rick, who is armed, aims to do all that he can to defend Hub Battle Land from humans and Bea gets Roger involved in the search for the code.
