The enigmatic Hallgrim Hallgrimsson is on his way to Iceland to see his sick mother when he is called back because a policeman has been killed at Copenhagen airport. Four murders and a daring rescue later detective Hallgrim Hallgrimsson, AKA The Eagle, accepts a position in the police commissioner's new team so he can work on solving the case.

Hallgrim is still in hot pursuit of ex-KGB man Sergei Varsjinskij and Luka Ivanovitsj Budanov; a new face joins the team while the relationship between Marie and Hallgrim heats up.

A wealthy Norwegian businesswoman is found dead outside Hallgrim’s hotel and the team is led once more to Sergei Varsjinskij and an intricate money-laundering scheme.

The trail of murders, including the crown witness, shows Hallgrim that he is getting dangerously close to Sergei. Nervous, Hallgrim worries for Marie's safety and spends the night at her apartment. Searching for clues in Berit’s effects Ditte receives a tip to look for the one thing that doesn’t fit the normal pattern; a plastic card that contains a map leads the team to an industrial area in the harbour and some very dangerous goods.

When the police seize a consignment of enriched uranium, Hallgrim makes a deal with Sergei in order to discover its planned destination. Meanwhile, Frandsen's life hangs in the balance as he is checked for radiation sickness.

In trying to find the truth about a batch of uranium that was seized by the Danish police, Hallgrim befriends a Chechen scientist in Oslo who has a sinister mission in life. 

Hallgrim and Marie attend a conference in Sweden where they locate the person behind the Lithuanian sex trade. A price is put on Hallgrim's head, and someone comes to collect.

After hovering between life and death, Hallgrim survives a knife attack. He and the team must now locate the perpetrator who is fighting to control the Balkan drug trade into Scandinavia.

Hallgrim moves into the Opera Hotel to recuperate and, like the hero in the Hitchcock film Rear Window, becomes fascinated by a beautiful young woman in a flat opposite. When he sees a man enter and start beating her, he films the attack and he recognises the man as Benjamin Stern, an unscrupulous member of the Israeli mafia. He later discovers a disturbing connection with a child pornography ring.

Through blackmail, Benjamin Stern secures a matrix of a Euro. All he needs now is the special banknote paper that is being transported through Berlin in a camouflaged garbage truck. Hallgrim learns of his plan. In an effort to sidetrack the police, Benjamin gets a drug addict to drive a van into a schoolyard in Berlin. There's a bomb in the back, which is set to go off at noon.

Hallgrim continues his hunt for Benjamin Stern who is deeply involved in the blood diamond trade from Congo. Michael finds an e-mail on Benjamin's computer to Le Mabë who is wanted in connection to war crimes. The mail also refers to two Congolese women who have sought asylum in Denmark, both of whom have been subjected to cruel rapes. Meanwhile, Hallgrim starts up a romance with a Swedish Flight Attendant.

A Danish businessman who has been trading weapons for tantalum with Le Mabé, is blackmailed by him. Meanwhile Le Mabé is hiding in Denmark with his former child soldier from Congo.

After Fabio kills Le Mabé with an injection of nerve gas, Hallgrim learns about some incriminating photos. Michael finds an internal leak and Hallgrim decides to lay a false trail. And, Marie finds out that Hallgrim slept with the Swedish flight attendant.

Curly, the mole in the squad, leads the team to ponder what Aagaard's latest development in Congo, a field hospital, really is? Could it be a cover-up for a facility to install a rebel leader, who would grant him mining concessions to the element tantalum.

Hallgrim's team is sidetracked in their search for a suspected suicide bomber who may be planning an attack at the wedding of an Iraqi professor's daughter, in Copenhagen.

Hallgrim and his team try to stop a known terrorist called "The White Prince of Denmark" and Amina, a convicted criminal, from detonating a bomb on a school bus.

Hallgrim and his Swedish colleague Rydén set up a giant sting to catch a well-known and totally ruthless drug dealer who has avoided capture for years.

The murder and abuse of a little girl in Stockholm lead Hallgrim and his team to a world-wide paedophilia network and a mysterious man who calls himself "The Groom".

The police locate Kyle, the murderer of the little Danish girl, on his honeymoon in Oslo.

A meeting in Germany between a former Serbian police chief and the only surviving witness to his part in a massacre in Bosnia goes wrong for one member Hallgrim's team.

Nazim is mortally wounded during an altercation between the former Serbian police chief Bosco, and Nino, who is the only person left who can testify against him at the war tribunal. German Intelligence finds out that Bosco is involved in international trade with some advanced electronics equipment, a so-called "jammer", which they think he will test when the Serbian Interior Minister, Milan, is visiting Denmark. In spite of death threats against her, Thea does not cancel the Serbian minister's visit. They are kidnapped. A video is sent to Hallgrim with a demand for a hostage exchange - Thea and Milan for Bosco.

Thea Nellemann's team is organising a surprise party for Hallgrim to celebrate his 40th. But he goes missing when he finds out that he has fathered a little girl. In Iceland he meets up with a journalist, Linda, who is writing a story about the company Gentech. She's also interested in the jamming device that the former Serbian police commissioner Bosco allegedly has.
